Camping

Long Acres Ranch is a perfectly located, primitive camping site for groups similar in nature to Scouting. We reserve our camping area for larger, multi-troop groups who typically have 100+ campers. LAR does not provide any programming, equipment or staff for camping. You are responsible for all of the above.

A 10-stall, climate controlled restroom trailer is available at the camp location. Septic friendly toilet paper is provided. There is water available at the site but there is no electricity. Trash must be taken offsite when you leave, we do not have a dumpster available for you to use. Our motto is the same as yours...LEAVE NO TRACE.

Weather is closely monitored leading up to as well as the day of the event. Because of the primitiveness of this private land, cancellations are not uncommon if it is too wet or there will be unsafe conditions during the stay. We don’t want to send you home packed with mud, nor do we want to have to level the land due to soft ground and heavy traffic.

*Note the PRIMITIVE camping information. We do not have the ability to accommodate camping trailers or RV’s. Long Acres Ranch is for TENT CAMPING ONLY.

The camping area will accommodate 100-250+ campers, with a maximum of 500 vehicles in the parking area. We will provide traffic signage to the camping and parking area. There is a one-way loop that drivers MUST adhere to. This is for the safety of all of our guests. THERE IS NO PARKING IN THE CAMPING AREA with the exception of trailers attached to vehicles and designated medical emergency persons. We also provide on-site staff for the duration of your stay for property emergencies.

Scouts

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America are two of our Nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. For over a century, each of these organizations has helped build our future leaders through educational activities, lifelong values, and FUN. These organizations help youth discover their strengths, passions, and talents, and build character, as a foundation for participating in citizenship and developing personal fitness. The Scouts know that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

In years past, Scouts needed only an hour or two to travel to outdoor natural areas for camping and outdoor activities. Today, as we become increasingly urbanized, these valuable properties require more and more travel, making outdoor activities logistically difficult for scout troops to participate in outdoor activities. The Ranch can continue to safely provide accessibility to the natural environment where many critical skills and personal development take place in scouting programs along with the benefits that are only gained through exposure to nature.
